Dressage gone to Dogs? Sho Clothes top dogs, Michele and Doug Hundt have a new poodle, Arlo (a gift from Carol Cohen’s pack), and Trilogy Saddles owner Debbie Witty has been spotted at the shows with her new pooch, Rudy who is a Norwich Terrier and soooo cute. Dream Stallions’ Rick Silvia is also sporting a fancy new standard black poodle named Exxon after the stock he sold to buy the handsome pup! On a sadder note, Johnny Robb and Jackson Mitch lost their beloved Corgi, Zoe who truly ran their Dance Hall Farm and will be missed by all. We do know that Johnny is consoling herself with a new horse, a Russian Hanoverian , named Mr. Jones.

Annual meeting season is wrapping up, and at both the USEA and USDF annual meetings, helmet use was a hot topic. There’s lots of talk around mandatory helmet rule changes for both eventing and dressage, and we’re thinking that the day when all riders, everywhere , are required to wear their helmets while competing is inevitable.

Dressage apps? You betcha. The USDF and Numen Communications recently released the frst version of the new 2011 USDF Introductory tests in a downloadable iPhone application. The iPhone application has been developed for USDF Introductory Level Test A, USDF Introductory Level Test B, and USDF Introductory Level Test C. To download the applications or to see a full listing of EquiTests applications, visit the iTunes App Store.

Passing: Advanced-level eventer Colin Davidson , 29, passed away on December 6, after a one-car accident near his home in Charlottesville, Va. Medics found Colin responsive at the scene, but throughout the evening his condition worsened, and he did not respond to tests at the University of Virginia’s Neurological Intensive Care Unit. Colin was a registered organ donor, and his family gave consent for him to be taken off life support as soon as any matches could be made. Colin was originally from South Conway, N.H., and competed through the four-star level on his horse Draco. He was named to the 2010 USEF Eventing developing rider list and had a very bright future ahead of him. He will be greatly missed by his family, his girlfriend, and everyone who was fortunate to cross his path.

Rebecca Broussard , the founder and owner of The Event at Rebecca Farm, passed away on December 24th. Rebecca was one of eventing’s greatest supporters as an owner of top horses and active leader in the USEA. In recent years, The Event at Rebecca Farm had grown and thrived under her direction. Her loss will be felt for years to come by everyone in the eventing community.

Equine Canada acknowledged the passing of long-time member, coach, offcial, clinician and mentor, Jacqueline (Jacqui) Oldham , 72, of Langley, BC, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jacqueline had over 60 years of experience in the horse industry

Dressage rider Caroline Roffman recently returned from to Taipei Thailand where she accepted the 2010 FEI Rising Star Award from Her Royal Highness Princess Haya during a dazzling ceremony.

Tina Konyot has been all over the globe since her fne performance at WEG she was off to races in Japan but is now settled back in not so warm South Florida and taking in horses for the 2011 training season. We caught up with her with Holly Johnson of JRPR recently when the two travelers exchanged a quick hello at Shop Talk. Holly just returned from Bahrain where she performed on Lipizzaner Stallions for the King of Bahrain. Just goes to show how small our horse world continues to get!
