Sidelines: What are your riding goals now that you are an adult?

KS: I am already qualifed for the USEF Talent Search Finals, which I am looking forward to attending in the fall. I am really interested in working with green horses so I hope to one day have a baby to show in the younger jumper classes or pre greens and frst years.

Sidelines: Are you looking forward to your college experience?

KS: I didn’t go straight to college but deferred for a year so I could focus on the equitation fnals last fall. I will be attending the University of South Carolina in August and I was recruited for their riding team. I am glad that I had the opportunity to focus 100% on the equitation fnals without any distractions last year but I can’t wait to go to school and experience riding for a team. It is going to be a new challenge but I look forward to sharing and receiving knowledge from others.

Sidelines: If you didn’t ride, what do you think you would do?

KS: I have always had an interest in art so I probably would spend more time learning to draw and paint. Maybe I would have tried running track or playing tennis as well. If I had had more time in high school, I would have loved to be part of a foreign exchange program because I love traveling and experiencing new places.

Sidelines: If you could meet someone famous, dead or alive, who would it be?

KS: I would love to have met Jackie Kennedy Onassis. I did a report on her in 8th grade and ever since then I have thought of her as a very inspirational individual. Of course we would have a common interest in horses. She was the only person to win both the Maclay Finals and The Good Hands Finals (a saddle seat class) when they were both held at The National Horse Show. She was a fashion icon, adored by many and most importantly, a brave face in a time of American tragedy.

Sidelines: If you could ride in a different discipline what would it be?

KS: I would love to try reining. Itwouldbeexciting to tryspinning and sliding. I don’t know much about any other disciplines but I am defnitely open to learning about any or all of them.
