60 SIDELINES JULY 2011 FOR HORSE PEOPLE • ABOUT HORSE PEOPLE

Global Dressage Festival.

Preparations are in high speed  for the annual International Dressage at Devon (DAD) Horse Show  (www. dressageatdevon.org). The show combines world-class dressage competition and the world’s largest open breed show outside of Europe with international Fall Festival shops, crafts, food and fun for the entire family.  This year, new footing has been added to the Gold Ring, matching it to the high standards set last year in the Dixon Oval. Dressage at Devon will take place from September 27-October 2, 2011 at the Devon Horse Show Grounds, located on US Route 30, in Devon, PA.

The USET Foundation will hold four Elite Dressage Rider Clinics this fall. Two clinics will be held on the west coast and two on the east cost, both with U.S. Olympic athlete and World Equestrian Games medalist Steffen Peters and USEF Technical Advisor Anne Gribbons . The clinics will be by invitation only for horse and rider combinations on the USEF Grand Prix Long List and are designed to provide guidance and instruction for the top U.S. Dressage horses and riders in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Start box: In order to add one more buffer week to ensure there was no possibility of EHV-1 infection at The Colorado Horse Park , the organization has canceled both

the Colorado Horse Park Three Day Event and June High Prairie Dressage scheduled for June 2-5. This was merely a precautionary measure; no horse exposed to the virus had been on the property.

Congratulations to Sinead Halpin , this year’s recipient of the

Pinnacle Cup Trophy presented by The USET Foundation, as the highest placed American rider, which earned her the trophy.

Suzanne Markham applied for general assistance from the Renee Isler Dressage Support Fund. Based on her experience, goals, and willingness to give back to the sport, the Selection Committee awarded funds for her to train with Ashley Holzer this year. Her goal is to compete internationally at the Grand Prix Level with her horse, Donarlicht

A grant was awarded to young rider Courtney Dale in order to help her and her horse, Fortune, attend clinics with Conrad Schumacher and Lendon Gray. Courtney believes that the education she received at the clinics will help her reach her 2011 goals of showing at 4th Level, schooling Prix St. George, and qualifying for the 2011 NAJYRC.

The Dressage Foundation’s Renee Isler Dressage Support Fund continues to provide signifcant funding to young riders and professionals. In March and April, the Isler Fund awarded nearly $3,000 to selected applicants.

Paige Miller was awarded funds to attend the Region 2 FEI Jr/YR Clinic with Jeremy Steinberg on March 26-27. Paige feels that, with the tools she learned from the clinic, she will be able to reach her goal of qualifying for the Region 2 Young Rider Team for the 2011 NAJYRC with her horse, PANTROS-S
