Rodrigo Pessoa is a legend in his own time, and Jan Westmark-Allan visits with him and gets some insight on who he is – and his style. Jan’s junior On Course this month is Charlotte Jacobs, a pretty and talented young woman. As always, Lauren Giannini is on top of the eventing world, and her Five Questions interview with Sara Kozumplik and profle on Sinead Halpin are great reads.

Jan met an amazing Paralympics hopeful in Erica Brant and her

rescue Thoroughbred mare, Polly, and then went on to interview dressage rider Suzanne Dansby-Bollman about Cooper and his more or less miraculous return to the grand prix ring.

Danika Rice tells us about Joi Rodriguez’ continuing recovery from a terrible wreck, and how the polo community has rallied around this wonderful woman.

All in all, there is a lot to read here; I know you’ll enjoy the issue – and want to do some shopping in your favorite tack shop as soon as you’ve fnished it – cover to cover. Until next month,

Did you notice the unusual cover this issue? Of course you did! It is a very rare thing for Sidelines to have a covergirl and not a rider on the cover, but this is our fashion issue, so a “real” model it is.

We have a special fashion section, kindly supported by our advertisers so be sure to take a look at their offerings, and a bunch of fashion-related stories sprinkled throughout the book.

Lauren Corey’s Junior Perspective was one of my favorites this month. I have always considered myself a sock queen, loving my horsey or kitty socks, but clearly have missed the boat on style: mine match. And speaking of socks, be sure to take a look at “Step by Step: Shoes at the Horse Show” that Lilliane Stransky put together for us. I still can’t quite get over the spike heels! Those shoes were NOT made for tottering around in the grass!
