An Open Letter from
the Equestrian Aid
Foundation
Thank you for mentioning the opportunity for people to help Jack
Stedding and Linda Andrisani through donations to the EAF. I’m
guessing you got the information from Phelps Media. The release
included a letter that suggested money would be earmarked to
assist them. However, due to tax law we are unable to earmark or
designate money to assist a specifc individual. Not sure if you are
aware of that. This is true of all 501c3 nonprofts. Guarantee funds
to an individual can endanger a nonproft’s tax deductible status.
It is our goal to always distribute the funds as they were intended,
but we are unable to guarantee that all money given in Jack and
Linda’s honor will be used for them. They are approved recipients
and have received emergency funding as well as receiving monthly
funds. If the time comes that they are no longer in need any
remaining funds will be used to assist other recipients.

the afternoon on Friday, September 24, 2011 after being
injured in an attempt to jump out of his paddock. Gilmore’s

Damian Guthrie had recently qualifed Gilmore for the 2012
