FOR HORSE PEOPLE • ABOUT HORSE PEOPLE
SIDELINES JANUARY 2012 43
bay mare has been purchased by
Claudia and Lloyd Thorsrud
and is likely to be ridden by Ireland’s
Damien Gardiner
.
Abigail Wexner
has purchased top show jumper
BMC Van
Grunsven Simon
for
Beezie Madden
to compete. BMC Van
Grunsven Simon, a 12 year old Dutch Warmblood gelding was
very successful with Dutch rider
Jeroen Dubbeldam
riding. He
and Dubbeldam were third in the Rolex Show Jumping World Cup
Final (Germany) this spring and won the $899,746 CN International
at Spruce Meadows last year. Dubbeldam and Simon also won
the Rolex Grand Prix of Verona CSI-W (Italy) last fall.
Tiffany Sullivan
and her
Haley Farms
are the new owner of
the fabulous Grand Prix jumper
Tristan
, bought from
Ilan Ferder
and his Ilan Ferder Stables.
Tiffany is an Amateur and rides with
Sheri Rose
in Lake View Terrace, California. Tristen will join the
string of show horses that Tiffany currently owns, including
All Star
purchased last year from El Campeon.
You may remember
Tristan as the horse
Nicole Simpson
won the WEG trials on in
2010. He was taken from her and given to
Samantha McIntosh
in Europe, before being taken from her and given to Ilan’s fancé,
Kirsten Coe
, who qualifed him for the World Cup Finals in six
weeks and took him to Leipzig this year. Clearly, Tristan is a pretty
amazing (and well traveled) horse. Congratulations, Tiffany!
Marnye Langer
just got a new young jumper from Germany
to show next year in the fve
year old jumper classes. She
hopes fervently that it lives
up to its name, “Jump The
Moon.”
On the move: Jonathan
Soresi
has a new
equine
venture,
Mountainside
Ranch & Show Stable
in
West Milford, NJ. Just 50
minutes from the George
Washington Bridge. “After
fve years of waiting for the
right property, one that would
work for both worlds, I’m
delighted to have secured it,”
Jonathan says. “Where else
can the New York weekend
warrior fnd an opportunity
to ride a beautifully trained
horse on mountain trails,
under an arching canopy
of trees that are nothing
short of magical, while his
daughter has a lesson? And
all just fifty short minutes
away from the city…but in
a different world entirely.”
