4 SIDELINES MAY 2012
FOR HORSE PEOPLE • ABOUT HORSE PEOPLE
all causes we will continue. Needy Nags was, in
particular, an idea that Neil founded and many
horses have new lives because of her!
Sidelines has evolved from primarily a polo
publication to one where our primary focus has
become the hunter/jumper, dressage and eventing
world, although we are still thrilled to report from
the sidelines of the polo feld! Time moves on and
Sidelines is going into an increasingly digital/social
media format. While Neil is going to leave the new
technological world up to the next generation, she
leaves behind a stable of writers who have been
pleased to work with her. To hear Neil tell it, Lauren
Giannini, Jan Westmark-Allan, Lisa Hollister, Lauren
Corey, Ann Reilly, Danika Rice, Laura Danowski
and Fred McWane have made her job easy. Neil
has worked with these writers month after month
to keep the pages of Sidelines entertaining and
focused. Our production manager, Stan Johansen,
has worked alongside Neil for 17 years and together
they have turned out a
magazine we have all
come to know and love.
Neil
is an avid
foxhunter and we hope
she will enjoy life from
the back of her horse
for many years to come.
Our staff will miss her,
as I know many of you
will. Sidelines is looking
forward to the future,
so visit our Facebook
page and website often,
because it is sure to
be an exciting ride. So
strap on your boots and
helmets (it’s a law now
if you are on the show
grounds) and ride along
with us.

Letter from the Publisher
It is a bitter sweet letter I must write as in this issue
we at Sidelines say farewell to our editor, Corneilia
Henderson. She has been with the magazine for
many years, off and on for most of the 24 we have
been in business. Neil has brought many new fun
ideas to the magazine. She has been a great asset
to Sidelines and has brought in many new columns,
writers and disciplines. We have all enjoyed working
with Neil as have our contributors.
Neil has seen us through important changes like
adding Dressage, Eventing, Fox Hunting and even
some Driving. She has also created many of our
most popular columns including Second Chances,
Needy Nags and Mutt of the Month. These are all
focuses we are all proud to report on and I think
working within the rescue of both horses and dogs
has made us all proud. Thanks to Neil, these are
