34 SIDELINES JULY 2012
FOR HORSE PEOPLE • ABOUT HORSE PEOPLE
the famous medium pony owned by
Ali Sweetam
.  Word has it
that this incredible pony was leased from Ali who has been trying
to get Dr. Bob to get his daughter a pony for years. Kayla is
trained by
Charles Moorcroft
.  We are looking forward to seeing
them in the short stirrup division soon!
Will Coleman’s
eventing mount, Cool Connection, is still
recuperating at the New Jersey Equine Clinic after his accident at
the Jersey Fresh CIC***.  We are told that the horse is expected
to make a full recovery.
Never before in its 39-year history had an Intercollegiate Horse
Show Association hunter seat team coach won two IHSA National
Championships for two different institutions. But that was before
Mary Drueding
, who has already been selected by the IHSA
to receive its Lifetime Achievement Award, demonstrated an
irrefutable argument in defense of her coaching excellence as
her St. Lawrence University Saints hunter seat team clinched the
IHSA Collegiate Cup during the 2012 National Championships.
We are sorry to hear that
Alain Valliancourt
has passed away
of cancer recently.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family
and friends. May he rest in peace.
There was a real tragedy in Aiken recently when one of it’s
favorite equestrians and animal portrait artists,
Lynn Carlisle
was murdered by her ex-husband. He later died in the hospital
from cross fre with police. Lynn was an avid fox hunter and has
memorialized so many of our favorite pets over the years with
her portraits. Lynn is survived by her two daughters
Katie Judd
and
Natalie Schoeny
. The funeral service was heart wrenching
when at the end
Larry Byers
played gone away on the hunting
horn and her trusted foxhunter stood quietly outside tacked and
braided with her boots backwards in the irons. Everyone in Aiken
is mourning her lose!
Cornelia Henderson
What does a retired Sidelines editor do in all her new spare
time? During off hunting season she attends hound shows
of course! Yes, that would be Cornelia Henderson!
