The Sidelines Equestrian Triathlon began about 10 years ago
and involved three disciplines – hunter/jumper, dressage and
polo (pictured). Once reining was added the Triathlon became a
Tetrathlon. It’s not too early to mark your calendars for the 2013
Sidelines Tetrathlon to beneft the Equestrian Aid Foundation,
Friday, February 1, 2013.
The report from Wyoming is that the Jackson Hole Polo Club
is going great and full of wonderful members, with plenty of trail
rides and foat trips. According to
Craig Ramsby
, they still have
the best frozen margaritas, thanks to
Bob Edmundson
. They are
gearing up for another great summer, and
Paul Von Guntard
is
ready to have some fun. He turns 80 this August and every game
day he shows up ready to play, grinning like the cat that ate the
canary.
Mariano Gracida
is having spinal surgery and
Matt Coppola
had ACL surgery and half of his meniscus taken out. These two
are in for a long recovery, but we expect that will keep the hospital
staff and therapists in good spirits with their antics!
Bumps and bruises:
Mason Wroe
suffered a broken foot after a
horse fell on top of him during the 8 goal season in Houston.....this
coming just a week after receiving stitches to his chin for a well hit
ball to the face. Time for a few weeks vacation before the busy
summer season in California!
Also in California,
Eric Munk,
nicknamed The Monkeyman,
and
Michele Everett,
who both play at the Orange County Polo
Club, have announced their engagement.
At the San Diego polo club, longtime offce manager
Heather
Chronert
has turned in her retirement after over 20 years with the
club. We wish her safe and happy travels with her husband on
their new adventures together.
Sapo Caset
is on the mend down in Argentina after suffering
such a severe infection that the hospital placed him in an induced
coma. Although he cannot play for several months, he is now
expected to make a full recovery.
Lakeside Polo Club
in California held its annual kick-off to
summer with a “margarita tournament” that featured 30 chukkers
of “everyone plays everyone” fun, followed up with afternoon
margaritas under the willow trees.
Playing polo in the Sidelines Triathlon
Sidelines found a photo in our archives of a polo player
wearing a Sidelines shirt and posted it on our Facebook page
-- and the photo was a huge hit. Linda Soper saw the photo
and realized that she was the star of the photo! Thanks for
being a Sidelines model Linda!
