Der-Dau, one of the most respected names in equestrian sports,
is a family business based in New York, that has been manufac-
turing custom boots, shoes and accessories for more than half a
century. The company was started nearly 60 years ago by José
Der, who learned his craft in Cuba before moving to New York
where the business thrives today under the leadership of Der’s
son, Joseph, the current CEO and Designer.
Joseph began learning the craft from his father when he was
just fve years old and he carries on the tradition, passion and
devotion of his father in ensuring that each product bears the high
quality and uniqueness that has become the Der-Dau trademark.
Der-Dau is a big supporter of equestrian sports. Joseph Der
presents an award to Charlotte Jacobs at the FTI Winter Eques-

Der-Dau utilizes only fne grade quality leathers, including
French calf, Italian leather snakeskin and the traditional black and
brown. Joseph was inspired by his daughter and began offering
riding boots in pink and baby blue. “We are inspired by creativity,”
Joseph says. “We don’t like the ordinary! We strive to be fashion
forward and unique. Our goal is to be distinctive and original, yet
