Our condolences to the family of
Arthur Williams
.
Arthur Williams, 87, died December 28, 2013. He
was a longtime civic leader, polo enthusiast, skier,
sailor, and devoted father, brother and friend. Arthur
was an avid polo player for 40 years. He and a group
of longtime friends founded the first professional
polo league in the
Mad River Valley
, and he played
in tournaments throughout New England and in
Canada.
During 2013,
Prestonwood Polo Club’s
Interscholastic and Intercollegiate Polo
programs really took off. In only their
second year to compete, the Prestonwood
boys Interscholastic Team won the
Central Regional Championship
arena
polo, competing in Indio California on the
national level as the youngest team in the
tournament.  In April, Prestonwood hosted the
USPA National Youth Tournament Series field
polo matches, in which Prestonwood team
members
Vaughn
and
Vance Miller
were on
the winning first place team while Prestonwood
team members Vaughn Miller and
Ronnie
Puente
won All Stars awards.  The USPA has
awarded Prestonwood the National Interscholastic Preliminary Tournament for the Central Region, to be held February 6-9 in the
Prestonwood Arena. The public is welcome to come out and experience the thrill of this unique youth sport. For more information
