who took him to team gold at the 2013 Bolivarian Games this past
fall. “I’ll do the 1.45m classes and maybe toward the end of WEF,
we’ll try some of the 1.50m and see what happens.”
This summer, Luis will head to Europe in preparation for the
World Equestrian Games. He has qualified to be picked as a
member of the Venezuela team, but will still be under pressure to
perform well to have the best chance of being chosen for the team
out of the pool of riders currently qualified.
“I have the pressure to keep the horse in good condition
and myself in good condition,” Luis acknowledged. “The World
Equestrian Games are during the second week of school. I’ll have
to tell them I’m just going to miss a week-and-a-half for this huge
championship.”
“I hope they understand!” Luis added with a laugh.
