Most people in the equestrian world know the name George Morris. The
legendary equestrian has been a show jumping champion, Chef d’Equipe
for the United States Show Jumping Team and coach to numerous talented
riders. Many up-and-coming riders would love the chance to ride under his
tutelage. Oakley Clark, a 24-year-old from Vermont, is receiving that chance.
It all started when Oakley rode with George in a clinic in Buffalo, New
York last November. Following the clinic, George approached Oakley,
complimented him on his riding and said he would help him with his training
and get his business started – an offer Oakley couldn’t refuse.
“It was kind of crazy at first, knowing my phone was ringing and it was
George Morris. But I’ve settled down a bit; I suppose you get used to it,”
said Oakley. “Working with George has been really great. It’s a little bit
intimidating, but it hasn’t been too bad. I’m adjusting well and I really enjoy
it.”
Oakley, trainer and owner of Twitchell Hill Farm in New Haven, Vermont,
has been around horses his entire life. After graduating from the pony ring,
