and that remains true even today. The Cashins have created an
attractive, welcoming facility for horse and social events. During
the summer they use polo almost exclusively to raise funds for
charity, both local and national, including Circle For Children, Polo
for Parkinson’s, Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity and Sierra
Club.
“Since 1985 we have raised about seven million dollars for
charity,” said Jack. “For the past five years, Parkinson’s has held
polo matches and one Sunday match raised $56,000 and another
one $72,000. I’m proud of what we do here. I’m very proud of how
we take care of our horses and polo ponies. We think ours are
healthier and happier than horses kept up in stalls. What I like
about being a polo player is that it’s a lot of fun. My body is 88,
my mind is 18 and my lust for life is about 26. If I can play polo,
anybody can play polo.”
