Cindy working on set.
On The Horizon
Cindy’s work with Buck and horses has concluded, although
she looks forward to working with the same film crew on future
projects. Since her success with
Buck
, there has been no
shortage of projects proposed to Cindy. However, she has been
selective with those she pursues. For example, her music video
titled “Get That Pony Rode” for Nashville-based country music
singer songwriter Templeton Thompson, which has enjoyed
almost instant popularity since its February 2013 debut. Less than
a month after its release, the music video was ranked first on cmt.
com.
So, what’s next for Cindy? Right now, she is the executive
producer of
Unbranded,
another documentary involving horses,
currently in production and set for a 2015 release. It is about four
young men who ride from Mexico to Canada through the great
American West. For this epic journey, they have chosen wild
mustangs they adopted from the Bureau of Land Management’s
holding pens.
Unbranded
will explore the current wild horse and
burro crisis that is spiraling out of control, as she follows the story
of the adventurers and their 13 wild horses across 3,000 miles.
See more about the film at unbrandedthefilm.com.
Cindy is also the executive producer on another upcoming
documentary about stray dogs being brought into a prison for
training by the inmates, called
Dogs on the Inside.
It investigates
how the inmates find unexpected healing through taking
responsibility for the dogs’ care. It is expected to be released in
2014.
Her next directing venture will be on a film about the issues
of dog and cat health in America. It takes a look at some rather
shocking facts in the lives of our beloved pets.
The criterion for choosing a new project is simple for Cindy. “I
have to feel as passionate about the subject as I did about the
Buck
film – especially now that I know how much work it is! I really
hope I can keep that purity alive, because I believe you have to
be passionate about something to do it well. If I didn’t feel strongly
that I could do a good job, I wouldn’t do another film. And, if it
didn’t inspire and help people in some way, I couldn’t do it.”
If her upcoming projects are any indication, it sounds like Cindy
is doing just that. Wonder what she’ll think up next!
