crew leaders for the ice water wash-down. They recruited
the boarders and friends who had helped with the 1994 and
’95 practice projects, which resulted in the development of
the technique of applying ice-cold water directly to a horse’s
hot body during competition to help remove body heat in hot,
humid weather.
Two of the elements that drew Europeans to Pine Top
Farm to prepare for the Atlanta Olympics are two of the very
same factors that make Pine Top Farm and its five annual
Pine Top Horse Trials so appealing to event riders: footing
and southern hospitality. Of course, three sand dressage
arenas, cross-country courses through theAdvanced andCIC
one- and two-star levels, permanent stabling for 150 horses
and 200 beautiful acres simply add to the appeal of Pine Top
Farm as an eventing destinationwhere spectators arewarmly
welcomed andmade to feel as at home as the exhibitors.
