Kristin is the winner of the 2014 USPC Foxhunting Writing
Contest. She will receive a certificate and $200 to put toward
hunt capping fees, Pony Club camps, hunt dues, or other related
fees.
What is your favorite discipline?
My favorite discipline is eventing, I am hoping to compete at the
Novice level in Kentucky at the USPC Championships this year
during festival.
Tell us about your pony and what you do with her.
My pony’s name is Minnie (Minutes Left). She is a 19 year old
Connemara/TB cross, bred by Lana Wright. She spent the
majority of her life as a brood mare but started being ridden
when she was 15. Although she is old, she doesn’t act at all her
age and loves to go!
What got you interested in foxhunting?
I was given the opportunity to go several different times with Mrs.
Wright, Minnie’s owner.

What do your members enjoy most about foxhunting?
Our members enjoy being able to ride through many beautiful
farms and jump the natural obstacles in a group setting. It is a
great outdoor activity that the whole family can enjoy together
which many of ours do. Many of our members are also involved
in pony racing so being able to gallop in a group while hunting
gives them the opportunity to hone their racing skills as well.
Why is it important to get members involved in foxhunting?
Foxhunting kids tend to be brave, tenacious and adaptable in
many settings. All great attributes for later on in their lives.
How many members of your Club foxhunt?
Half of our Pony Club members hunt on a regular basis with
a few others that hunt during the Children's Hunt and cubbing
camp. We are aiming to increase that number this fall.
