Wellington, FL - January 17, 2013 – The second session of the 11-week $175,000 Invitational Grand Prix Series at the Ridge at Wellington takes place on Friday, January 18, 2013. The 1.40m Grand Prix is the highlight of the season for Level 2 Jumpers, with $15,000 offered in prize money each Friday throughout the series.

The 1.40m Invitational Series allows riders the chance to compete on a horse they would not normally ride at the Wellington Equestrian Festival (WEF), or reserve a time to show their favorite mount after their simultaneous activities at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. With the additional higher stakes, this series is sure to become a hit for the winter season.
Riders who participate in eight out of the 10 Friday Grand Prix classes will have the opportunity to show in the $24,750 Grand Prix Series Finale on Saturday, March 23, 2013, with no entry fee. Riders are encouraged to get their entries in for this exciting event as soon as possible to let the event coordinators know they are participating and will be at the ring for their jumping times.
The line-up of entrants for the first week included Kevin Babbington, Lauren Hough, Candice King and Todd Minikus. They all agreed that the series is an exciting new addition to the Wellington show season. It was Andres Rodriguez and Elatrice who stole the show and rode to the top of the leader board with their double clear effort in only 39.852 seconds.
