“Joseph played at Eldorado for part of the winter. Then,
she introduced us to ‘Smokin’ Joe Henderson, one of the
only 10-goal arena polo players in U.S. history. He worked
with Joseph this winter.” Joseph benefitted from Smokin’
Joe’s mentorship and was named Most Valuable Player
during the award ceremony of the Joe Barry Memorial Youth
Tournament at Eldorado during the 2013 season. “He can
really send the ball,” Glee said. “He’ll be quite the gunner
when he gets older.”
“William loves his pony,” said Kathy. “He’s done hunters
and jumpers and he played some polo and he has been out
foxhunting. Right now he just likes to pet the horses and be
with them. He’s our avid tennis player. The door is always
open for him if he wants to do more.”
With Glee’s help, Kathy and her mother found retired
grand prix horses that they ride. Cecily has taken over the
three jumper ponies and Joseph is growing his polo string.
Glee found a grand prix prospect in France on a trip with
Kathy last year. They all have great fun foxhunting with the
Arapahoe Hunt.
This summer, the family plans to show the six weeks of
Summer in the Rockies
at the Colorado Horse Park and
Joseph will play polo at the Denver Polo Club. It is going
to be a full schedule. “We have a lot of fun,” Kathy said.
“There’s a lot of laughter and joy. We’re so grateful. The
horses teach you so many life lessons.”
