Misti West, of Templeton, Pennsylvania, has had Clipper since
the day he was born. She says the 32-year-old has taught
plenty of people to ride and he competed in a hunter pace just
four years ago!
Megan Hays, of Robesonia,
Pennsylvania, was proud
to have Buddy in her life.
Buddy lived to be 35-years-
old and passed away shortly
after our contest ended. She
says that he came into her
life when she was 12, taught
her many life lessons and
even inspired her to become
a veterinarian.
Lena O’Brien, of Lambertville,
New Jersey, says her Palomino
gelding named Shamrock is at
least 35! She says legend has
it that Shamrock came from
Chincoteague Island. He has
been with her for almost 20
years. He took her daughter
on her first beach ride and has
been a great baby sitter to
weanlings and is still in great
health – and he still loves to go
for a ride.
Jessica Welch,
of Staunton,
Virginia, says this
25-year-old pony,
Pilgrim, is a barn
favorite! She says
they have been
teaching together
for 10 years and he
has taught many
small children to
ride and jump.
This is Pilgrim and
one of his riders,
Abigail.
Leslie Granger, of
Wildwood, Missouri,
says her mare, Sarah,
is 30-years-old and
the matriarch of the
herd. She says they
have been together
since Sarah was four.
They have evented and
competed in combined
driving through the
preliminary level and
have competed in
dressage. Sarah has
had five foals and Leslie
has two of her foals and
two of her grandchildren.
This is Sarah at her 30th
birthday party.
Lindsey Matossian, of
Waynesboro, Pennsylvania,
says her 27-year-old gelding,
Silberprinz, known as Silber,
was born in Bavaria. He
was purchased by Olympic
show jumper Michael Matz
as a youngster and brought
to the U.S. where he had a
successful career as a show
jumper. He subsequently
went on to be a school
horse, therapeutic lesson
horse and is currently
enjoying his retirement.
