Mutt of the Month
Lila is a two-year-old
blonde Labrador/Bully
breed mix who came
to the SPCA as a stray
nearly seven months
ago. She is highly
intelligent, athletic and
anabsolute sweetheart.
Lila is always eager
to make new friends
and greets every new
acquaintance
with
enthusiasm. A regular
at our dog park, she
gets along well with
other dogs and has
good social instincts.
Lila also loves to play tug and “carry the leash.” She knows her
automatic sit, down, roll over, shake, wait and is working on
more advanced leash skills. Lila will make a wonderful addition
to any family who will make sure she gets plenty of mental as
well as physical exercise! Lila’s adoption fee is $75. She is
spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations. A fenced
yard is required for adoption. Lila is located at the Aiken SPCA
Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare in Aiken, South Carolina.

Sidelines’ March Mascots:
Kate Eagleton and Cairo
Sidelines
Magazine is pleased to introduce our March mascots
– Kate Eagleton of Miami, Florida. Kate attends Miami Palmetto
Senior High School and keeps her horse, Cairo, at East Wind
Farms. Kate started riding when she was seven and, now at 16,
she is competing for her first time at the FTI Winter Equestrian
Festival (WEF). “My long-term goal is to compete in college on
an NCEA team and eventually open my own barn and training
facility. But for now, competition and training is intense as I
strive to succeed in equitation classes and qualify for prestigious
medal finals,” Kate said.
She added, “The journey to get here has been a wild ride –
literally. I’ve spent a lot of time riding green horses, including
my first horse – a young, inexperienced OTTB. I took him over
his first cross rail all the way to our first three-foot medal class in
Wellington. The green horses from my past make me appreciate
my current mount, Cairo, an 11-year old Holsteiner who performs
flawlessly for me at every show. I enjoy grazing Cairo and giving
him treats and baths. I love being at the barn and spend many
hours there during the summer as a working student. I also ride
on an IEA team. I’ve qualified for regionals and my goal is to
make it all the way to nationals.
Congratulations to Kate and Cairo on becoming our March
mascots. Follow Kate’s adventures on the “Catch the Sidelines
Spirit” blog on the Sidelines website,
