Lauren Hough Lands $3,000 Bonus in SSG Gloves Promotion

Wellington, Florida – Lauren Hough was the big winner on Friday morning, claiming a $3,000 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves on her way to victory in the $34,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Series Round IV on January 31 at the 2014 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. Held Friday morning following the cancellation of all classes due to rain on Thursday, a total of 65 horses crossed the timers in an effort to post the fastest clear round over the track set by two-time Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela. Ireland’s Shane Sweetnam held the lead for the majority of the class after posting a time of 62.58 seconds with Solerina. Riding near at the bottom of the order, U.S.

Canada’s Tiffany Foster and Victor Victorious in $34,000 WEF Challenge Cup

Wellington, Florida – Canada’s Tiffany Foster emerged victorious in the $34,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round III – Section B held Thursday, January 23, at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. A total of 92 horses attempted the first round track set by course designer Guilherme Jorge with 25 posting clear rounds to advance to the jump-off. Returning for the jump-off mid-way through the order, Foster guided Victor to a blazing fast round in a time of 40.50 seconds to take over the lead from her 2012 London Olympic teammate, Ian Millar, who had stopped the clock in 40.84 seconds riding Dixson. Only one rider, Todd Minikus, was able to better her time, crossing the timers in 40.34 seconds riding Quality Girl to take the win in Section A while Foster was crowned the victor of Section B.

OTTAWA, ON Jan 22, 2014 — Equine Canada regretfully reports that 18-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Orion, beloved partner of Canadian dressage rider Pia Fortmuller, passed away on January 19th. Orion and Fortmuller were the sole Canadian dressage athletes competing at the elite level (CDI4* and 5*) in Europe over the last year.
