In exactly one emotional whirlwind of a month, my life has undergone some tremendous changes. My long-term boyfriend successfully completed and graduated from one long year of intense Army pilot training-something that tested us but made our relationship stronger in the end. I also said goodbye to my lease horse, Bentley, and uprooted my life in small town Alabama to move back to Lexington, KY. I know I have mentioned Bentley in previous blogs but I’ve never fully explained how he came to be mine for one wonderful year and why I made the painful but necessary choice not to purchase him.

As Sidelines’ newest writer, I will have a monthly column about the equestrian world from a novice amateur’s point of view featured in Sidelines’ digital magazine as well as my blog, where I’ll write about my adventures and experiences even more often. The following is the first half of my story about my life and love of horses. From a very young age, all I wanted to do was ride horses.
