Mary King, British event rider and multiple medalist in six Olympics, three World Equestrian Games and three European Championships, taught a two-day clinic, presented by Kelly Gage of Team EnGage, at Morven Park, in Leesburg, Virginia, last November. The clinic was well attended and mounted participants included international United States rider Allison Springer as well as auditors. In 2011, Mary rode her horses, Kings Temptress and Fernhill, to first and second at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. Mary was also promoting her book, Mary King – My Way, in which the author reveals “How I Train For Success” – available through www.acanthuspress.co.uk
  1. On the last weekend of each March, Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia, hosts the mid-Atlantic’s first horse trials event of the season. Scheduled for March 28-29 in 2015, the event traditionally attracts riders of all levels, with divisions ranging from beginner novice through intermediate. The equestrian competition showcases dressage, cross-country and show jumping surrounded by 1,000 scenic acres. Spectators are welcome: bring a picnic or purchase food on the grounds.
