Sophie St.Clair, 12, of South Pasadena, California, trains with Belgian rider David Sterckx. Over the summer Sophie went to Belgium with her trainer and other riders from her barn. They rode in two shows in Incourt, Belgium and took part in a clinic with World Champion Philippe LeJeune. Sophie said, “It was my first trip to Europe but it has given me a glimpse of what I'd like to do with my riding in the future.” Photo by Bret St.Clair
Alexandra Fyffe, 14, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, showed Twist for her trainer during the summer to multiple wins, but the day after this photo was taken she had an accident while riding a sale horse and ended up in a cast and on crutches. The talented honor role student who is planning on being a veterinarian is looking forward to getting back in the saddle as soon as she gets her cast off. Get well soon Alex! Photo by Gregory Greene
Suzanna Curtis, 16, of Morgan, Utah, and her horse Amazing Grace competed at the 2011 Area IX Championships in the Training Championship division and ended up Reserve Champion. “We were 2nd out of 18 and finished on our dressage score of 33.5 moving up from third to second after stadium jumping,” Suzanna said. Kate Doos, 15, of Fresno, California, competed her eight-year-old Thoroughbred Doozey at the Ram Tap Three Day Event in the Junior Beginner Novice division. The day started out with bad weather and rain but by the end of the day it was clear – just like Kate and Doozey who came away with a double clear round. Kate, who trains with Megan Bittle, said, “Our ride was perfect and it was a great experience.” Way to go Kate! Photo by Emma Doos
