about Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Man/Women and Boy/Girl of the Year

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign is a fundraising competition in communities across the U.S. in which participants vie for the title of Man or Woman of the Year. They raise funds for blood cancer research in honor of local children who are blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. The titles are awarded to the men and women in each community who raise the most funds during the eight-week campaign. Halcyon Farm and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society support Tania Srouji in her campaign for Man/Women of the Year. www.tania2012.com

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has named Ashley Fazekas and Dustin Beaver the 2012 Girl/Boy of the Year.

Ashley Fazekas has been named the Girl of the Year and is a very bright and vivacious seven year old who willingly shares her cancer experience in order to help others. She was diagnosed at the age of one and a half with A.L.L (Acute lymphocytic leukemia)

Dustin Beaver Has been named Boy of the Year and is an energetic 12 year old from Mechanicsburg who was diagnosed with A.L.L. two days before Christmas, 2010. Dustin has been thankfully in remissions since January, but has to undergo excruciating maintenance treatment for the next few months
