Morgan Measey: Anything But Typical for Brooke USA

By Britney Grover

Portraits by Melissa Fuller

Morgan Measey’s life has almost always revolved around horses, but their role in her life is very different from the role of horses in the lives of those Brooke USA Foundation helps. Brooke USA is dedicated to changing the lives of working equines around the world, and Morgan is the co-founder of Brooke’s Young Professionals Committee, helping to get young professionals involved in Brooke’s worldwide efforts. Morgan was named Brooke USA Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year for 2024 for her dedication.

Morgan knows the Wellington equestrian world well, having been a working student as a Junior rider there and growing up in nearby Delray. In addition to volunteering for Brooke USA Foundation, Morgan runs her own consulting business, Anything But Typical Consulting, and manages On Course Consignment. She enjoys using her skills to assist with events such as Equestrian Aid Foundation’s “Ashes to Action” fundraiser in February, benefitting equestrians affected by the California wildfires, and the “Healing Through Horses” fundraiser with US Equestrian and Horses For Mental Health in March. “I currently have my semi-retired horse, Midas, who enjoys the occasional trail ride and easy lifestyle now,” she said. “I have the opportunity to ride during the winter season and hope to get back in the show ring sooner than later.”

How did you get started with horses?

I started riding at age 8 with a pony camp, and I’ve spent almost every day with horses since. My grandfather played polo in Pennsylvania and owned polo ponies.

How did you get involved with Brooke USA?

After I attended a few events, Brooke USA approached me regarding co-founding the Young Professionals Committee with Ash Atkinson—it was the first of its kind in the equestrian scene for young adults involved in this industry; no other organization at the time had a specific event and committee of young professionals. We started this idea in 2021 and hosted our first event in February 2023.

What’s your current role with Brooke USA?

I’m currently working on some exciting fundraising events coming up in 2025. Sponsor acquisition, event coordination and social media are my main focuses. We’re branching out into new locations and I’m so excited to get more young professionals on board for future events around the U.S.

What’s your favorite part of being involved with non-profit organizations?

I feel that it’s so important to have the upcoming generations involved in the nonprofit event world. It really is something special to have a group of under-35-years-old young professionals from so many different careers working so hard to make a difference with their drive and dedication.

What are your goals with Brooke USA?

My goals are to keep growing the Young Professionals Committee while expanding outreach of the Young Professionals throughout the U.S. We have members from all the equestrian disciplines in Wellington: polo, show jumping, hunters and dressage. In the future, my goal is to cover the Western disciplines as well, though the committees also consist of members outside the equestrian industry.

When did you start your consulting company and what part does it play in the equestrian world?

I’ve really been able to grow the nonprofit side of my general consulting business over the last two years. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some amazing organizations, such as Horses for Mental Health and The Equestrian Aid Foundation, as well as currently working with US Equestrian’s Community Outreach Program. I’ve also had the opportunity to help found a few new nonprofits in the equestrian industry. Nonprofit consulting is one facet of the equestrian industry I’ve found a passion for. At Anything But Typical Consulting, we focus on public relations, sponsor acquisition, event management, brand development, social media management and content curation.

What are you looking forward to in your business?

I have exciting projects and events with new clients and brand partnerships coming in 2025. I’m very excited about a project I am working on with Agustin Arellano. I’ve also had the opportunity to get involved in the rodeo industry over the last year. I have some exciting new events and new clients on board in that industry as well. It’s such a different way to spend a “Friday & Saturday night lights” compared to WEF and Global, but it’s an awesome new industry I’m so excited to be a part of.

What is the best thing about your life?

Being able to enjoy the equestrian industry in so many ways, from my passion to my career.

What is the best-kept secret about your company?

When we showed back in the day, Midas’ name was Anything But Typical—that’s where my company name came from! I am really loving getting involved in the Western and rodeo side of the equestrian industry, too—who knows, maybe I’ll get a Quarter Horse, too!
