Missy Clark, one of the country’s top trainers, owns North Run Farm in Vermont and Florida with her husband John Brennan. For most of the last 20 years, North Run riders have won a national equitation championship or reserve, and many of Missy’s students have gone on to compete in Grand Prix and international competition. Like most horse people, Missy loves dogs, so it’s no surprise that she’s involved with Danny and Ron’s Rescue. She started the Dandelion Fund that can be accessed through their rescue. “If someone has a dog that’s been in an accident and the family can’t afford its treatment, they can contact Danny and Ron’s Rescue, which has access to the fund to help pay the cost so the family pet doesn’t have to be euthanized,” Missy said.
Where do you live?
I live in Warren, Vermont, and Wellington, Florida.

What’s your favorite vacation getaway spot?
Locking myself in my house! But my favorite places are Lake Placid and Salzburg, Austria.

When was your last vacation?
I have no idea! I guess if you consider a year ago we went to Las Vegas for the World Cup Finals — that was kind of a vacation.

How many hours a week do you work?
A lot! It varies. If we’re at a show, it could be 10- to 14-hour days. But it’s always a lot more than 40.

How many hours a week do you play?
Very little… maybe 7 to 8 hours a week? I work out, so that’s my play.

How many emails do you get a day?
Probably 50 a day. I never open them. I hate email and probably have 700 now. I am the worst ever. My secretary alerts me when I have to look at something. I can’t handle it.

How many hours on the phone a day?
OMG… that’s the majority of my life. A lot. At least 6 hours a day — texting or talking.

What’s your favorite saddle?
CWD

Who makes your favorite riding coat?
Equiline. They also make my favorite breeches.

What kind of riding helmet do you wear?
I wear a GPA.

What one item in your wardrobe best personifies you?
My comfy Levi jeans

What was the last book you read?
George Morris’ book, Unrelenting

What’s your favorite timepiece?
Ebel watch

What type of car do you drive?
I drive a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

What’s your method of travel?
A private plane is the way to go if you are lucky enough to have that option! It’s a rare occasion for us though.

Name a person you’d most like to meet and why?
Morgan Freeman. He’s amazingly talented.

If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be and why?
I’d love to be in Rome because it’s one of my favorite cities and we showed there a few years ago.

What’s the most frequent charge on your credit card?
Probably special dog food

What’s your favorite credit card?
American Express

Name three things that are most likely to be in your refrigerator.
Peanut butter, milk and Ben and Jerry’s frozen Greek yogurt
