Palm Beach, FL (December 10, 2012) – Members of the Gold Coast Dressage Association (GCDA) were recently treated to an evening of awards, ocean views, and socializing at the annual year-end awards banquet held at the Omphoy Ocean Resort in South Palm Beach. The banquet featured a buffet dinner and complimentary champagne followed by the presentation of awards including year-end level awards, breed awards, and FEI and USDF season high score awards.
The elegant Omphoy Resort was a new venue for the banquet, and the beautiful dining room and stunning ocean views were the perfect setting. Riders were presented with gorgeous ribbons as well as various prizes, including GCDA saddlepads, halters, silver trays and plaques. Level awards covered Training Level through the Grand Prix in both the open and adult amateur divisions. Season high scores were recognized in the USEF, FEI, and FEI Freestyle divisions. High score honors went to Joanna Trout aboard Lexington Star with a score of 75.161% (USEF level), Jan Brons on Zonneglans with a score of 71.842% (FEI level), and Dana Fiore aboard Redford with a score of 69.000% (FEI Freestyle). Brons and Trout were also presented with the Vita Flex Victory Pass Award for their wins in USEF and FEI divisions. Breed awards were presented to the highest scoring Oldenburgs, Hanoverians, Lusitano/P.R.E.s sponsored by Interagro Lusitanos, Dutch/KWPN, and all other breeds in an open division. The banquet also acknowledged the Voluneers of the Year, Amy Swerdlin, Joan Iadaresta, and Kelby Barranca. The GCDA is extremely appreciative of the support of its members, and recognized one rider who went above and beyond. Janne Rumbough, a Palm Beach resident, very successful GCDA competitor and long time supporter of the association, supplied GCDA with a new dressage arena when theirs was stolen. Rumbough’s generosity was acknowledged at the banquet where she was presented with an elegant engraved tray.
“The banquet is an annual tradition for Gold Coast and having it at the Omphoy was a new twist,” said Noreen O’Sullivan, President of the Gold Coast Dressage Association. “The year-end awards are an excellent way to recognize the achievements of our members and bring everyone together for an evening of socializing and dining. This year’s banquet was a great way to end one season and lead into the 2013 show year.”
GCDA hosts an exciting line up of dressage competitions, including schooling shows and CDIs. Their 2013 show season kicks off with the GCDA Opener CDI, held at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center on January 19-22. Competitors travel from far and wide to attend the winter show circuit in Florida, and Gold Coast is a key series in the circuit, hosting top international dressage riders from around the world.
