News from the Alumni Tournament of Champions

Despite various challenges, we were honored to be able to hold the 9th annual hunt seat Alumni Tournament of Champions at a beautiful new facility and were blessed with wonderful weather, fabulous horses, and amazing sponsors. This year on August 9, 2020 our rescheduled show took place at Rosewood Farm in East Greenville, PA.

Our usual pre-party / end of year awards reception sponsored by the IHSAA was moved as a free lunch exhibitor party at the show due to covid concerns.  The top award went to Alyssa Kelly from University of Delaware who added her name to our perpetual trophy as the overall winner of accumulating the most points over for hunt seat and western points.

In the Mane Jane Hunt Seat Alumni Cup, judge Patte Zumbrun dropped the field to just 6 for the final round of testing after combining individual flat and fences scores.  Scores were very close in the end, but the 2020 Mane Jane Hunt Seat Alumni Cup trophy went home with Ally Villareale, a Delaware College Graduate.

The IHSAA Future Hunt Seat Alumni Cup, the only class dedicated to graduating seniors, went to Rachel Burton from Virginia Tech. Other class winners were as follows:

  • Sandra Sayre Alumni Flat – Carolyn Rosazza, Virginia Tech
  • Dreamers & Schemers Advanced Flat – Tara Mathews, University of Connecticut
  • AdultAmmyStrong 2’3 Fences – Emily Weyl, Lafayette College
  • Gayle Pollack 2’6 Fences – Kayleigh Burke, Virginia Tech
  • CampusEquestrian Reunion Fences – Allie Morris, Elon University
  • EquiJet Reunion Flat – Morgan Thomas, Wilson College

The Alumni Tournament of Champions is an IHSA style horse show for IHSA alumni from around the country. Riders draw horses before competing and are not able to practice before showing. The purpose of the show is to expand opportunities for IHSA Alumni to ride in a finals type atmosphere, as many only show a few times a year with busy careers and limited funds.

Keep an eye out for the 2021 10th Anniversary Alumni Tournament of Champions on June 6, 2021 at the iconic USET Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ. This special anniversary show is sure to include many special prizes and surprises!
