Catching up: Want to know where to find just about everybody after hours during the Alltech National Horse Show? Check out Pearse’s Place, Taylor Harris Club and the Gracie Street
Garden. These are going to be happening places. In the old days, there was HarryO’s, The Garden Club and of course those long hours drinking in front of the M J Knouds booth. Seems the organizers of the Alltech National Horse Show are bringing back all the “water holes” of days of old with a new Kentucky look.
Kiki Umla has a scare recently. Driving home from Lexington in August she got in a tangle with a motorcyclist. Fortunately nobody was hurt but everyone got a good scare and there is a mangled motorcycle and Kiki’s car was left in bad shape.
Did you hear about that group of “big time” riders in the dining room enjoying dinner at the Peabody Marriott during the Putman event in Ipswich? Seems they looked around and found out that they were in the middle of a New England Transvestite Dinner Meeting? Now can you imagine how that evening played out?
Did you know you can rent the US Equestrian Team Foundation headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey for private functions? Recently the “team” headquarters have played host to the Festival of Champions, Catherine Hadad’s reception, Essex Hunt Club Annual Hunt Ball and a few birthday parties and cocktail fundraisers. If you are interested, give them a call.
Don’t you hate it when an “R” judge calls you and asks for a job! That is just poor form but there is one license judge out there who isn’t bashful – resulting in less work. Rosie Merle-Smith tells us that The Tennessee Valley Hunt and Andy Bozdan, their new huntsman, defied all the obstacles thrown at them by the United States Government, and accompanied by his two terriers, Andy made it across the big pond – just in time for hunt season to begin.
Now, all he has to do is learn the country and about 60 hound names… by next week!
Birthdays: Nona Garson and Tom Struzzieri share a birthday (well birth date – September 30) and we trust both celebrated in style.
Bumps and Bruises: You won’t see Rick Thomas running around a horse show any time soon. He fell off his roof and busted up his ankle and tore his Achilles tendon. This is going to lay him up for awhile but the bigger questions – what was he doing on the roof!
Congratulations to Mason Phelps, just recently appointed to The Wellington Chamber of Commerce’s President’s Circle membership.
Once again, Susie Schoellkopf and her team at the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Club pulled off one of the nicest indoor shows of the year. The Buffalo International didn’t disappoint anyone.
