Weaning the Foal: When, How, and Why

If any foals were born on your farm this year, then you’re probably thinking about the process of weaning. Weaning separates a mare from her foal so that the foal learns to grow up independently of the mare. It also gives the mare’s body a break from the stress of nursing a foal, and allows the mare to return to a riding career
