August 22, 2013, Gloucester, Massachusetts- An exciting new venue and a new course designer are coming to The Jumper Classic equestrian show jumping competition this September 4-8 in Ipswich, Massachusetts. International course designer Oscar Soberon will give riders a new opportunity to challenge their skills on a beautifully-maintained grass polo field on magnificent 100-acre Maplecroft Farm in the heart of horse and hunt country. The Jumper Classic has been held at Maplecroft Farm for two of the 24 years the popular event has been offered.

Soberon is a Fédération Equestre Internationale Level 3 course designer who has built courses in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, and South America. He has designed courses for Pan American Games and assisted with the 2008 Olympic Games and 2009 World Cup Finals, as well as several CSI and Nations Cups. Soberon, who is from Mexico City, Mexico, will design courses for the Grand Prix Ring, including the Grand Prix and Speed Stakes classes.

The Jumper Classic is a USEF-recognized event with all prizes counting towards the USEF year-end awards. There are over 50 classes with divisions for children, adults, juniors, amateurs, and professionals. The event will be featuring new classes that will help riders qualify for the North American League (NAL), Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), Marshall and Sterling and the Show Jumping Hall of Fame year-end championships.

Show Manager Nathan Panetta will bring his expertise to this year’s competition. Panetta has designed courses and assisted with operations at The Jumper Classic for the past six years.

Entries for the Jumper Classic are due August 23, 2013. The prize list and entry forms are available at www.jumperclassic.com. Call 978.283.7708 for more information.

The Jumper Classic is presented by Audi of America, and has been known as one of the New England area’s finest show jumping events since 1989, offering riders a special opportunity to ride on a grass field. This spectacular event, known for many years as the riders’ show, brings the sport of show jumping back to Boston’s North Shore this year where devoted fans enjoy ringside seating and seeing some of the finest horses and riders in the sport.
