Spring Reveal at Spruce Meadows!

(SPRUCE MEADOWS, Calgary, AB):  There are a few sure indications of the arrival of spring: the swelling of buds on the trees, tulips poking up through the newly thawed ground, street sweepers out gathering up all the gravel that was spread on the icy, winter roads.

There are a few additional signs at Spruce Meadows that usher in spring: new foals, construction and the removal of the tarps from the grass of the International Ring.

The spring reveal of the International Ring took place today under clear blue skies, the grass emerged emerald green and extremely lush.  D’Arcy Finlay, Senior Manager, Grounds, Mechanics, Events gave it a thumbs up and within minutes of the removal of the tarps, the mowers were out and the preparations for the arrival of competitors from across North and South America and Europe for the “National” Tournament, June 8 – 12, 2011, had begun.

The summer series of competitions at Spruce Meadows starts with the “National” and run for five weeks, culminating with the “North American” Tournament which finishes on Sunday, July 10th, 2011.  Join us for international calibre show jumping as competitors vie for selection to their national teams in preparation for the Olympics in London, England in 2012.
