Sidelines Magazine’s Mountain States sales rep Kayce Douglass is excited for her cousin, Gail Costello of Arizona, who rides cutting horses. Although it is early in the season, Joe’s Midnight Son, is ranked second in the Arizona Cutting Horse Association, and ranked 5th in the World NCHA Limited Rider, 2000 National Cutting Horse Association Finals. Joe’s Midnight Son and Gail are headed to Las Vegas.
Our thoughts are with Melisa Pearce, of Touched By A Horse. Her daughter Molly Pearce is hospitalized at Omaha University Medical Center with a grave illness that requires organ transplants. Melissa and Molly are encouraging everyone to think about becoming an organ donor by supporting “Donate Life.”
Catie Staszak, former Sidelines Magazine Junior Perspective columnist is doing quiet well in college. She reports, “You never know what a simple gesture can turn into. Over the summer my dad and I decided to help out a woman who was struggling to hang up banners at the Belmont Stakes. The woman worked for HRTV, one of my dream employers. Eight months later, that woman remembered me, and she just offered me a job working with HRTV this weekend. I’m going to be a production assistant at the Eclipse Awards!! Ahhh!!” Congratulations Catie!
Carol Sollak and Amy Carr have some exciting news! Carol has left Illustrated Properties and she and Amy have joined forces and opened up an Engel & Voelkers realty branch in Wellington. Together, they’re really an unstoppable force!
Laura Backus, trainer at Pendragon Stud Equestrian Center in Larkspur, Colorado, has been awarded the United States Pony Clubs “20+ Year Local Legend Award” for giving 20 years or more valued service as a volunteer dedicated to developing horsemanship, sportsmanship and leadership among Pony Club members. Laura is co-DC of Hunter Hill Pony Club based at her barn.
Congratulations to Betsy Grandos, from Elizabeth, Colorado on her purchase of Walter Ego, “Wally,” a three-year-old, handsome bay OTTB fromVersailles,Kentucky. We will see them competing at Rolex in a couple of years! Congrats!
The Mells Fox Hounds is mourning the loss of one of their Masters. Vannah Husband, long-time Master of the Mells Fox Hounds, lost her battle with cancer. She was an incredible Master, friend and fellow foxhunter.
