Visiting Hickstead

Thursday, May 15 2014 by Editor
The famous Hickstead bank I recently traveled to England on a horse shopping excursion to find some equine prospects to bring back home to the United States. We bisected the entire country in 4 days and rode about 65 horses (but who’s counting). One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the world renowned Hickstead horse show grounds and the home of the biggest equine bank jump in the world

Win a Painted Pony!

Wednesday, May 14 2014 by Editor
The Prairie Princess                             Win a Painted Pony!! Sidelines Magazine has teamed up with The Trail of Painted Ponies to give you a chance to win a Painted Pony of your own!! You could win the Prairie Princess. According to The Trail of Painted Ponies website, “This Painted Pony, a co-creation of Pop Artist Howie Green and TV legend Alison Arngrim, whose portrayal of Nellie Oleson on “Little House on the Prairie” was so iconic she was named as the #1 female villain in TV history, is a tribute to the ladies who made their homes on the prairies of America in the 1800s. Those women were tough and sturdy to be sure, but always welcomed a little touch of color, and some decorative trim along a dress seam or a pink bow on their bonnets.” Just send us in a photo of your pony (no professional images please!) for a chance to win! Everyone is allowed ONE entry

Should You Give a Drill Team a Try?

Wednesday, May 14 2014 by Editor
Have you ever watched a good drill team in action? When watching a drill team perform an energetic, entrancing drill the fact that the horse and rider pairs are individuals falls away until you start to see the team as a single unit. Mounted drill teams are fun and a great opportunity to socialize with friends, but they have many other benefits, too

By Kate Green The two leading riders in the FEI Classics™ 2013/2014 go head to head in the fourth leg of the series, the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials (GBR), this weekend (8-11 May). William Fox-Pitt, winner of Pau (FRA) last year and Kentucky (USA) last month, and Christopher Burton (AUS), who triumphed on a catch ride at his home CCI4*, Adelaide (AUS), in November 2013, both have exciting rides at Badminton. Fox-Pitt, the new world Eventing number one, has a commanding 15-point lead in the FEI Classics™, a series he has won three times before, but there is plenty of time for others to catch up
