Junior Blues

Junior riders are rocking the results at shows everywhere – and Sidelines wants to congratulate all of them and share their good news! If you know a junior who deserves to be recognized, send in a paragraph detailing their award-winning news, with a photo, to jan@sidelinesnews.com.

Kiersten Frick, of Loxahatchee, Florida, rode Touché to the ESP Circuit Children’s Hunter Grand Championship in Wellington. Kiersten and Touché also took their first spin in the International Ring (under the lights, no less) in the $5,000 Hunter Classic. (pictured). Great work Kiersten! Photo by Mancini Photos

Taylor Yencho, 17, rides with Jennifer Greshko and Laverne Pendziwaitr of Plum Ridge Academy in Nescopeck, Pennsylvania. Taylor and her Thoroughbred gelding, Duncan Hill, suffered through a few rough classes at hunter shows, leaving Taylor to wonder if she was even going “to come out alive!” Taylor is proud to report that she and Duncan Hill returned to the hunter ring at the AA Farm Horse Show with great success! Madison Bryman took home the blue in the Children’s 15-17 Jumpers with Tulip, owned by Redfield Farm, during the Lake Placid Horse Show. Madison and Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center’s Serato took home the third place honors in the ASPCA Maclay and she is now qualified to compete during the Maclay Regional Finals. Good luck in the Maclay! Photo by Alyson Sanderford/PMG

Charlotte Jacobs was the winner of the very competitive High Junior Jumper Classic, at the Lake Placid Horse Show, with a double clear effort aboard Karonda V Schl’Hof CH. The duo also won a second High Junior Jumper Class earlier in the week. Congrats Charlotte! Photo by James Parker/Kathy Russell, The Book LLC

Gabi Thompson, of Nashville, Tennessee, was Champion in the Child/Adult Jumpers at the Brownland Farm Show in Franklin, Tennessee. Gabi trains with Haley and Travis Lubow and cruised to victory aboard Hilton, owned by David Wright. Gabi and Hilton also won the speed class. Photo courtesy of Gabi Thompson

Brittni Raflowitz spent the summer showing in New York in the Medium and High Junior Jumpers with Flipper (pictured) and Kleen Slate. Brittni reports it was an amazing summer with both horses. Brittni and her horses will be competing at the Hamptons, HITS-Saugerties and the Fidelity before heading home to Florida. Kudos! Photo by ESI Photography

Morgan Spatz, a member of the Sundance Pony Club, and her pony Gina recently took part in the Pony Club Festival at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Kentucky. It was the first time for Morgan and Gina, both 12-years-old, to visit the Horse Park. Morgan, who has a D-3 rating with Pony Club, rescued her cute pony. Congratulations to Morgan for giving Gina a new life and success in the Pony Club! Photo by Misti West

Megan Heeder of East Lansing, Michigan, 18, and Simpatico, a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding formerly owned by Dressage for Kids, recently participated in the Emerging Dressage Athlete Program at Hampton Green Farm in Fruitport, Michigan as well as the first Youth Dressage Festival held in the Midwest. Megan and Simba, trained by Maryal Barnett and Lendon Gray, won the "Sixteen and Over" division and were crowned Grand Champions of the Festival. Congratulations Megan, we look forward to watching you do great things in your dressage career! Photo by Cynthia Essig
