A Look at Mounted Archery

The image is one right out of ancient history: the horse freely gallops forward as the rider aims his bow and sends an arrow flying home to its target as the pair gallops on. But thanks to a revival of mounted archery, this ancient art is now becoming a popular sport – one that you may see more and more in the future years. Mounted archery dates back thousands of years, and is one of the earliest forms of warfare.

Hampton Classic Horse Show Returns for the 39th Year

Bridgehampton, NY-June 18, 2014  -The 39th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show returns to Bridgehampton, NY, August 24-31, to showcase the highest levels of equestrian show jumping competition.  The Hampton Classic features six show rings, a Boutique Garden with more than 70 vendors, and a wide selection of dining options, and a new Farmer’s Market, all on its 60-acre show grounds. “The Hampton Classic offers something for everyone,” explains Shanette Barth Cohen, the horse show’s Executive Director. “From our world-class equestrian competition, to our distinguished high-end shopping boutiques and gourmet cuisine, the Hampton Classic provides spectators and exhibitors alike with a bounty of activity and excitement.” The Hampton Classic hosts more than 100 classes of competition for horses and riders of all ages and abilities.

Jump for the Children’ Horse Show-benefitting Duke Children’s Hospital wins Prestigious award from USEF

Jump For The Children Horse Show Jump for the Children’ Horse Show-benefitting Duke Children’s Hospital, earned the prestigious Heritage Competition designation from the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF).  The USEF is the National Governing Body for Equestrian Sport.  The Heritage designation is reserved for competitions that have been established for a long period of time and have made substantial contributions toward the development and promotion of the sport within the broader community, by achieving, maintaining and promoting the equestrian ideals of sportsmanship and competition.  Nationwide, only seventeen other horse shows have been awarded this honor. In 2013 ‘Jump for the Children’, celebrated thirty years of service and commitment to Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham NC, raising over $1.6 million for Duke Children’s since the horse show’s humble beginnings in 1984.  ‘Jump for the Children’ Horse Show is the longest, continuously-held, annual fund-raiser for Duke Children’s.  This year’s show will be held at the Gov. World’s best riders come to the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead

Several of the world’s leading showjumping nations will head to the All England Jumping Course this summer for the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead (29 July – 3 August), the official show of The British Horse Society.   The Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ (Friday) and the Longines King George V Gold Cup (Sunday) are the showpieces of Hickstead’s CHIO5* fixture, each having a prize fund of €200,000.
