4th Annual THJA College Equestrian Fair “Getting on Track” ‒ How to Become a Potential Candidate for a College Equestrian Team…and more! (Houston, TX) ‒ The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show is known as one of the largest and most prestigious horse shows in the country. With a legacy of 68 years of helping children, and a leader in giving, Pin Oak has donated more than $4.5 million to help build Texas Children’s Hospital’s Main and West Campuses. Seven years ago, Pin Oak created an educational field trip, inviting 1st and 2nd grade school children to the show for a “behind the scenes” barn tour to foster a passion for horses and excite young children about the world of equestrian sports.

Silicon Valley audiences have flocked to Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse since it galloped into town. After weeks of sold-out performances and overwhelming demand, this equestrian extravaganza has been extended one final time. Performed under the White Big Top at the intersection of Hwy 101 and 87 East on the 101 Tech campus site, across Hwy 101 from the San Jose Airport, Cavalia’s last San Jose performance will be August 26, 2012. In three and a half weeks 500+ riders will be heading to Chattahoochee Hills in Fairburn, Georgia for the third and final year to try their best to be named National Champion for their level.

A Look at Del Mar Race Track

Holly Hugo-Vidal, who writes the “West Side Story” column for Sidelines Magazine, recently visited Del Mar Race Track and did a great photo journal of her “Day at the Races.” Holly captured part of the giant mural in the lobby of the Del Mar Race Track (can you spot any celebrities?) and then went to the stable area where she spotted a lone washing machine that is responsible for lots and lots of laundry! “I love the washing machine,” Holly said! Pony Club Championships East August 6, 2012 (Lexington, KY) The excitement of the 2012 Pony Club Championships East is beginning to dissipate but the memories and fun will last a lifetime. Members qualified in Games, Show Jumping, Eventing, Polocrosse, Quiz, Tetrathlon, or Dressage and competed in Lexington, VA on July 26-29, 2012. Although there isn’t much math in riding, there were some interesting numbers this year in the hosting of Championships. 3 – Days of non-stop competition fun

August 6, 2012 – The Dressage Foundation’s Continuing Education for Dressage Instructors Fund, established by Maryal Barnett, has awarded grants to five individuals to attend the United States Dressage Federation’s Instructor Certification Program. Kalli Bowles (CA), Megan Dischler (WI), Heather McCullough (NC), Colleen Reid (CA) and Alejandro Salazar (CA) each received a $1,250 grant to further their education as instructors
