Taking Your Horse’s Vital Signs

Knowing how to take your horse’s vital signs is imperative in an emergency, and it’s a skill that you should practice ahead of time. Although there’s a range of vital signs considered “normal” for a horse, it’s important to establish a base line so that you know what’s normal for your individual horse. Temperature A horse’s temperature is typically between 99 and 101 degrees Fahrenheit.

Show Ring Success and Thoroughbred Incentive Programs Ignite Interest in Ex-Racehorses   Lodi, OH (February 26, 2013) – CANTER Chapters are celebrating a milestone year for transitioning ex-racehorses into second careers through their free online sales listings.  The 10 CANTER Chapters online sales websites served 596 trainers at 30 racetracks nationally in 2012 and successfully transitioned 1,015 racehorses nearing the end of their racing careers.   “Our horses try hard for us on the racetrack so our loyalty to them goes beyond their race careers,” noted Bob and Marcia Wolfe, trainers at Penn National Race Course, Grantville, PA

In the Small Tour, Christilot Boylen (CAN) was triumphant, taking the top two spots in the $5,000 FEI Intermediare I sponsored by Havensafe Farm. In the Large Tour, Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven (SWE) clinched the win in the $10,000 FEI Grand Prix Special sponsored by USPRE Association

Wellington, FL – February 14, 2013 – Week six of the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) continued on Thursday with a championship win for Christopher Payne and Susan Moriconi’s Lucas in the Pre-Green 3&4 Year Old Hunter division at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, FL. The $50,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 6 was cancelled due to inclement weather.
