After competing in the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) this season for the first time, I was in awe of the caliber and quantity of competitors. Here is proof that it is truly a horse show like no other: statistics provided by: http://www.equestriansport.com/esp/pdf/ Flat classes in the 15 -17 equitation were always packed and often had to be split into two different groups

Getting involved in Lexington’s equine community, even without a horse of my own
Sunday, April 13 2014
by Editor
This weekend from the beach in Florida, I finally had a few moments to reflect on everything that’s taken place since our move back to Lexington. And I’ve realized that even without a horse of my own, I’ve had a lot of great opportunities to get involved in Lexington’s equine community. I would encourage other hopeful amateurs that may also happen to be horseless at the moment to find ways to get involved in their local equine community.

Trying to express what a beloved mount means to an equestrian is really, really hard.

In exactly one emotional whirlwind of a month, my life has undergone some tremendous changes. My long-term boyfriend successfully completed and graduated from one long year of intense Army pilot training-something that tested us but made our relationship stronger in the end. I also said goodbye to my lease horse, Bentley, and uprooted my life in small town Alabama to move back to Lexington, KY. I know I have mentioned Bentley in previous blogs but I’ve never fully explained how he came to be mine for one wonderful year and why I made the painful but necessary choice not to purchase him.
