Who Wants To Be A Jumping Millionaire? (Or… Jump Clear and Show Me the Money!)

Sunday, September 09 2012 by Editor
Become a show jumper – and “Show Me the Money!” By Jan Westmark-Allan Here’s some great advice for any rider trying to decide what career path they should follow – become a show jumper! While I know the prize money is fantastic in the reining world (they win millions and you don’t have to worry about being afraid of heights) – show jumpers do have the opportunity to make some cash! Tomorrow — Sunday, September 9 th — is the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix in Saugerties, New York, at the HITS-on-the-Hudson horse show. That’s one class with a huge purse. Talk about wanting to have a clear, fast round! I remember when my daughter was showing in the Children’s Jumpers – if she won any money (it was always something like $28) we were thrilled and we would go to Longhorn Steakhouse that night and feel like we were living large!! I wonder how the winner of the $1 Million Grand Prix will feel??

Misty of Chincoteague – A Real Life Paint

Saturday, September 08 2012 by Editor
Since I’m on a Paint kick (I want a Paint, I don’t want to paint, I will leave that to the professionals) I am excited to share the “My Story” feature in the newest issue of Sidelines Magazine. Yes, our main character is a Paint – a wonderful little guy straight from Chincoteague – as in the famed island of wild ponies immortalized in the wonderful children’s book Misty of Chincoteague

I’m Ready to Paint the Town

Friday, September 07 2012 by Editor
I’m Ready to Paint the Town   I am READY to have a Paint in my barn – guess I can paint my barn while I’m at it also! I am thrilled to have a “loaner” horse for the moment – but there is one thing wrong with little Miss SweetPea. – she isn’t a Paint

Becoming A Horse Person – Again

Wednesday, September 05 2012 by Editor
What a sight! Jan and Mo. He was my first true love! I have spent my entire life with horses. Take one look at the photo of me as a kid and you will laugh – or relate! What a bedraggled little mess I was – but I loved that pony.

Adventures In France: The Road To Belleau Wood Memorial

Thursday, August 23 2012 by Editor
As always there is a horse related tie in with this and it does do way beyond that we went over to the Netherlands to visit my dear friend Geoff and to watch the Grand Prix Special in Greenwich for the London 2012 Olympics (more on this to follow). First was our adventurous day trip to France so Joel could see the location of the Battle of Belleau Wood near Chateau Thierry a bit north of Paris, France. Geoff was kind enough to offer to drive us down and back for the day so Joel could view this tribute to service members worldwide.

London 2012 Olympics, Holland & Dressage #1 But I’m Writing About Bell Boots & Pessoa

Tuesday, August 21 2012 by Editor
I have heaps of things to blog about right now and at the top of my list are blogging about my trip to Holland to visit a very dear friend and go to the London Olympics to watch the Grand Prix Special in dressage as well as how dressage is #1 in general BUT I’m writing about two things that have been on my mind this past week; bell boots & Pessoa Training System. I’d borrowed a Pessoa Lunging System for a few weeks and incorporated it into a weekly schedule with Hansel and saw some great results.

It’s Reining! It’s Pouring! Amazing Performance Horses!

Friday, August 10 2012 by Editor
I was so lucky to meet the Ingram’s while down training in Wellington this last winter. ONE, they are simply just a wonderful family, fun to be around, honest, nice and oh so welcoming. TWO, they have a super group at their stable full of some great Amateur (Non Pros for your reiners) riders.

Keep Cool With Hot Summer Animo Fashion

Sunday, August 05 2012 by Editor
Here’s the long and the short of it! Animo apparel is totally functional riding apparel. In fact, their full seat paired with my Antares saddle is a seriously comfy ride and that’s saying a GREAT deal considering how massive a mover Hansel is! Animo apparel is sexy. Animo apparel is comfy AND I seriously wear my breeches with pumps and rocking top out on the town for dinner
