We hopped back and forth between the opening day of the World Dressage Masters at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach and the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) held at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington to catch the up and coming horses at each venue. In the international ring at the Winter Equestrian Festival veteran international jumper rider Katie Monahan-Prudent and Michael Smith’s V were victorious in Thursday’s $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 3 during the third week of competition

College Preparatory Invitational Awards $8,000 in Scholarships at Third Annual Show

Wellington, FL – January 22, 2013 – The College Preparatory Invitational (CPI) hosted its third year of competition this weekend at the nationally renown Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, FL. Over 150 riders from across the country participated in four (4) levels of hunt seat competition, along with three (3) levels of dressage.

Wellington, FL – January 24, 2013 – Renowned show jumper Katie Monahan-Prudent guided Michael Smith’s V to victory in Thursday’s $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 3 during the third week of competition at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF). Competing in the International Arena at the beautiful Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), the seasoned veteran topped young U.S. competitors Kristen Vanderveen (23) aboard Bull Run’s Eternal and Lauren Tibso aboard Tequestrian Farms’ Roundthorn Madios (28) who finished second and third respectively.

All Fourteen Horses in World Dressage Masters CDI5* Palm Beach Pass Inspection

Wellington, Fl – January 24, 2013 - After a few tense moments, including a second inspection of Hans Peter Minderhoud’s Withney van ‘t Genthof, all 14 horses entered in World Dressage Masters (WDM) CDI5* Palm Beach were determined fit and ready to compete. One horse, Sentimiento I, who was to be ridden by Australia’s Nicholas Fyffe, was scratched before the jog. The jury, which was comprised of the foreign judge, the FEI veterinarian, and the president of the ground jury, evaluated the horses at today’s 11 a.m.

Wellington, FL – January 23, 2013 – Week three of the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) began with the $8,000 G&C Farm 1.45m speed class on Wednesday morning at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC). The win went to Olympic gold medalist Peter Wylde (USA) aboard Windward Farm and Jessica Suida’s Zidane, a nine-year-old KWPN gelding by Sam R x Cantos

Wellington , Florida - January 23, 2013 - Setting a historic record for a show jumping class purse, the 2013 FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments® (FTI GCC) will distribute $1.5 million dollars to 34 Palm Beach Countycharities in an exciting event at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on Saturday, January 26, 2013. It is only with the generous support of the team and corporate sponsors and riders that in its fourth year the FTI GCC has become one of the largest and broadest-based philanthropic events in the county. With this year’s total, the event will have donated 4.2 million dollars to more than 75 Palm Beach County Charities and has had a significant positive impact on thousands of lives in Wellington and Palm Beach County.

Considering the potential of retired racehorses, why are so many going to slaughter? The last equine slaughter house in the United States was closed in 2007. Many saw this as a huge victory, but in fact it simply diverted horses to slaughter plants outside the country. What continues to be stated in the headlines as a “slaughter issue” is actually a result of the “unwanted horse” issue. Digging a bit deeper we see that it is compounded by a lack of funding to assist unwanted horses.

Wellington, FL – January 20, 2013 – The second week of competition at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF), sponsored by Wellington Equestrian Realty , concluded on Sunday with a win for McLain Ward (USA) and Super Trooper de Ness in the $25,000 Suncast® 1.50m Championship Jumper Classic. Competing on a beautiful afternoon at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), the pair earned their second victory of the week, winning over Ben Maher (GBR) aboard Jane Clark’s Cella and Pablo Barrios (VEN) and ZL Group, Inc.’s Zara Leandra. Week three of the FTI WEF runs Wednesday, January 23, through Sunday, January 27
