I thought it fun to pick a question here or there and answer on my blog so here goes. This week it’s from Claire in Atlanta, Georgia.

by Editor
Hi again! Through this blog we hope to share with you so many things that are happening at Pure Thoughts! I also hope to show what a special place it truly is and the things that make it so special. So in upcoming posts look for horses that are available for adoption; Adoption stories, the volunteers that make it all possible; events that we participate in and/or host; and training tips from Brad!!!! Today Jennifer Swanson is sharing some of this week’s adoption stories. These are always my favorite. It just warms the heart to see rescue horses thriving in their forever homes and how happy they make their new families. So here this week’s adoption updates from Jennifer… Amid the storms, tornado and rain which were a result of the path of the storm named Debbie some other girls found happiness, comfort and a new beginning in their lives.

Conyers,Georgia– 15-year-old show jumping sensation Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela added another championship title to his ever-growing resume, picking up the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Championship at the Atlanta Summer Classic II held June 20-24 in Conyers, Georgia. 15-year-old Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela claimed the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Championship title riding Black Pearl at the Atlanta Summer Classic II in Conyers, Georgia. (Photo by Flashpoint Photography) Hot off his fourth place finish in the recent FEI World Jumping Challenge held inCaracas,Venezuela, Andrade returned to theUnited Statesfor the second week of competition at the Atlanta Summer Classic. With a win earlier in the week and a second place finish in the $5,000 NAL 1.25m Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, Andrade took home the championship title with Black Pearl. The black Argentinean Warmblood mare also won a Six-Year-Old Young Jumper qualifying class during the Atlanta Summer Classic. In the High Junior/Amateur-Owner division, Andrade took the Reserve Championship title riding Costa, and also enjoyed a second place finish in the $10,000 NAL High Junior/Amateur-Owner Classic with Tiny Tim. Stepping up to the top level of the sport despite his young age, Andrade was the lead-off rider in Saturday night’s $35,000 Outback Steakhouse Grand Prix. Riding La Fe Forli, a 10-year-old bay gelding bred inArgentina, Andrade turned in a fast four fault effort to place fifth overall. “Emanuel was the first rider on course and had a beautiful round; he rode really well,” said Andrade’s trainer Angel Karolyi, who operates Hollow Creek Farm in Aiken, South Carolina, with business partner Andrea King. “Being first in the order, he didn’t have the advantage of knowing how the course was going to ride, but I thought he managed it beautifully. He was unlucky to have the plank down which came down a lot; the horses didn’t see it well and it was easy to knock down.” Coach Karolyi, who also hails fromVenezuela, enjoyed a top 10 finish of his own in the $35,000 Outback Steakhouse Grand Prix, incurring eight faults over the course with Boccaccio, owned by Hollow Creek Farm. Karolyi and Boccaccio only began competing together in December of 2011, with their first major victory coming on New Year’s Eve in the $25,000 New Year Grand Prix held inWellington,Florida. In March, the pair were members of the Venezuelan team for the $75,000 G&C Nations’ Cup, also held inWellington

Hi Everyone! My apologies for the delay since my last post. As a student, my life is very much subject to school, and with the end of the year and final exams, not to mention rehabbing Palermo, it feels like I’ve had no time to myself lately. But now it’s officially summer, and I look forward to writing much more frequently! A lot has changed for both Palermo and I since my last post

Gladstone, NJ (June 27, 2012) – It was a weekend of fireworks for Wellington-based dressage rider Caroline Roffman and her horse Pie, as the duo dominated the Intermediaire I Division at the 2012 Festival of Champions to ride away with the National Championship. While fireworks on a nearby golf course had Pie a little unsettled one night during the competition, Roffman and Pie set off their own fireworks in the ring to win the championship with a 74.535% total for their three classes. Caroline Roffman and Pie have been named the 2012 United States Intermediaire I National Champions. Life at Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue
Thursday, June 28 2012
by Editor
Hi Everyone! My name is Kolleen and I am lucky enough to be involved with what I consider to be one of the best horse rescues in the country, Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue in Loxahatchee, FL. I came across Pure Thoughts last summer when I was thinking about getting back into riding after many, many, many years away from it. I saw that Pure Thoughts was running an online auction and one of the auction items was a set of riding lessons from Brad Gaver, one of the founders and Co-Directors of Pure Thoughts. I placed a bid and lucky for me mine was the winning bid. After Brad assessed my riding level during my first lesson he suggested that I ride a new arrival, One Nice Offer. One Nice Offer had just been retired from the racetrack on September 2 and he had not been trained as anything but a racehorse. I had never before been on a horse that did not know what leg, seat and hand aids were. Still, I managed to get him to walk and trot and even canter a few times around the ring. After that first ride I was hooked on riding again. After riding One Nice Offer several more times I was quickly forced to make a decision. Being a young, fit and sound horse he was sure to be adopted quickly. It was clear that I had to adopt him or he would be gone. The morning I showed up at Pure Thoughts with my adoption fee I had arrived literally minutes before a woman who had driven up from Miami to adopt him. I knew, however, that I could not let this horse leave my life. He had found a place in my heart and he is now mine. Handsome Suckie in his stall at Pure Thoughts Now on to his name. As you know, his name is One Nice Offer, which I find to be a beautiful name. But his barn name is … Suckie! I know! Terrible, isn’t it?? (Thank you Ms. Stacy Ferris!!). There is a long, cute story behind that name, but Suckie??
