Buffalo, NY – January 23, 2014 - Four years ago, the Buffalo Equestrian Center (BEC) conceptualized a program congruent with the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA). This program has opened doors for riders unable to afford the equestrian sport, or with little access to horses, while promoting the educational aspect of teaching horsemanship and team camaraderie. Since its inception at the BEC, the team has proved unstoppable

Hello all and welcome to the world of The Hopeful Amateur! As Sidelines’ newest writer, I will have a monthly column about the equestrian world from a novice amateur’s point of view featured in Sidelines’ digital magazine as well as my blog, where I’ll write about my adventures and experiences even more often. The following is the first half of my story about my life and love of horses. From a very young age, all I wanted to do was ride horses. Ballston Spa, NY — Are you a horse owner interested in the nutritional value of the hay you are feeding your horse? Is the definition of “good hay” confusing to you? On Thursday, January 9th,2014 from 6:30-8:30 pm, Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Saratoga and Rensselaer Counties, will host guest speaker, Paul Sirois, director of Forage Laboratory Services from Equi-Analytical laboratories, for a hay nutritional analysis workshop.
