By Jan Westmark-Allan “Don Altena made his competition debut under Canadian Olympian David Marcus at the CornerStone Summer Festival held July 12 to 14 at Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON.” Photo Credit – Ally Dunlop Canadian Olympic Dressage rider David Marcus appeared on the April cover of Sidelines Magazine with his gorgeous Olympic partner Chrevi’s Capital. I had the pleasure of attending the photo shoot (at Tuny Page’s Stillpoint Farm in Wellington, Florida) and it was a great shoot! Photographer Sue Stickle took a zillion photos (not sure it that is an accurate number) and David and Chrevi were great sports – not to mention very photogenic! After the photo shoot, David saddled up his other great mount Don Kontes and rode him in the indoor for us. It was beautiful – poetry in motion.

Mobo- Available for Adoption!
Wednesday, July 10 2013
by Editor
Mobo is a 16 hand, bay, gelding and is available for $500 in Marysville, OH. This quiet, unassuming guy holds a great secret of how good he was on the track in just 2 short years of racing. From a rough first start, to winning 3 of his races by 6 ½, 10 and 12 lengths, he was often the pace setter and always showed good speed. The fact that he was the odds on favorite in over half of his races shows Mobo was a favorite at the track just as he is a favorite with us at our facility. After all, he did sell for $125,000 as a yearling. Mobo is such a kind horse both to handle and to ride and is also a great babysitter for our more difficult boys. He quietly controls the pasture without kicking or pushing the others around and soon his pasture mates are calmly grazing nose to nose with him. Amazingly he had been off the track for 3 ½ years prior to coming to us and when he started back under saddle, he went right to work like he hadn’t missed any time away because he has such a sharp mind. As you can see in the video, Mobo will follow you anywhere being the people-pleaser he is and is game for anything, but prefers to be left alone and not micromanaged while being ridden. He says he knows his job! Very easy to handle on the ground, respectful, and loves attention which makes him fun to be around and will make someone a great pleasure horse
