Several of the world’s leading showjumping nations will head to the All England Jumping Course this summer for the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead (29 July – 3 August), the official show of The British Horse Society. The Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ (Friday) and the Longines King George V Gold Cup (Sunday) are the showpieces of Hickstead’s CHIO5* fixture, each having a prize fund of €200,000.

Morris Gladstone Program saw an abundance of auditors line the stands at the USET Foundation Headquarters at Hamilton Farm for the Saturday mounted sessions. The sessions this morning reviewed the previous four days of instruction, summarizing position, release over fences and exercises using classical dressage.

Equine History: Secretariat Won the Belmont Stakes with a Stunning 31 Lengths

June 9 th, 1973 was a historic day in horse racing: It’s the day that Secretariat won the Belmont Stakes with a stunning 31-length lead. With that victory the chestnut Thoroughbred stallion became the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years, and he became a household name at the same time. Secretariat was born on March 30, 1970.
