Hello all and welcome to the world of The Hopeful Amateur! As Sidelines’ newest writer, I will have a monthly column about the equestrian world from a novice amateur’s point of view featured in Sidelines’ digital magazine as well as my blog, where I’ll write about my adventures and experiences even more often. The Kentucky Rolex Three-Day Event begins on Thursday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, and many of the Sidelines staff arrived today! The Bluegrass State is a great place and tomorrow we will head to The Kentucky Horse Park – a favorite destination for horse people.

Sponsored again this year by Alltech (whose international headquarters is in the Lexington suburb Nicholasville, KY), the show was first held in 1883 at the original Madison Square Garden in New York City. The 2011 Alltech National Horse Show was named the top U.S.
