Following The Hurricane, There Was Western Ice!

Monday, November 05 2012 by Editor
So it’s been a few days since my last post mainly due to the fact that Hurricane Sandy affected us rather badly for several days here in Virginia Beach. I am however pleased to report that all the horses stayed safe and warm and although had to spend a few days confined to their stalls, no major incidents occurred and the barn stayed watertight.

Oh Baby, Baby! We Want Your Cute Foal Photos!

Friday, November 02 2012 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan A wonderful foal photo sent in by Kristin Zabawa of Oregon. Is there anything cuter than a foal? Tiny whiskers, tiny ears – running, leaping, sleeping, playing with mommy!! I guess the only thing cuter than a real-life foal is a great photo of a foal – which is why Sidelines Magazine is holding the “Who’s Your Daddy” Foal Photo contest.

Step Up And Help! You Will Want to After Watching the Video

Wednesday, October 31 2012 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan The love of a horse or pony can be a powerful thing in a young girl’s life! It’s almost difficult to put into words the importance that horses play in our lives  - they are our joy, a warm shoulder to cry on, our therapy, our love, our exercise, our friend, our social outlet and our soul mates!! Imagine if you were an underprivileged young girl with a load of bad stuff in your life and someone introduced you to the great and amazing love of a horse or pony. Enter a program called Heroes N Horses – a program that helps young girls and changes their lives for the better. The Heroes N Horses program has done so much for these young ladies, but now the program itself is in trouble! Heroes N Horses has two locations – one in Ocala, Florida and another in Wellington, but they might have to close down if they can’t raise funds

You Really Love Your Horse and Don’t Want Your Friend to Be in Pain

Tuesday, October 30 2012 by Editor
New Release DVD by Jochen Schleese!   “Beyond the 9 points of Saddle Fitting” deals with the complexities of saddle fit, revealing potentially serious effects of ill-fitting saddles to horse and rider! Undiagnosed lameness, atrophy, ‘bad’ behavior, resistance, gait abnormalities, 4-beat canter, poor work attitude, sore/sensitive back, lacking engagement, stress lines and atrophy, repeated hock and stifle injections – all common equine issues Schleese witnesses every day. Schleese’s training as a former 3 day event rider provides the basis for his epiphany. Jochen emotionally reveals how Saddlefit 4 Life came to be – the result of his personal experience with lameness in his competitive horse.  “Riders will relate on so many levels
