Halliday’s California homecoming sees HHS Cooley finish third in CCI***
Tuesday, November 12 2013

The event provided an emotional homecoming for Halliday, who grew up just 30 minutes from Galway Downs where she trained and competed as a teenager. The English-based American’s decision to travel 5,400 miles across the Atlantic from her Chailey Stud base in East Sussex would be fully justified come Sunday when a clear Show Jumping round helped Cooley take a podium finish that not only qualifies him for four-star level competition but also potential selection to the US team ahead of next year’s World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France

Winner Lives Up to Name With Daryl Portela at Alltech National Horse Show

Lexington, KY – October 31, 2013 - “I was very excited to come here because I’ve never shown here,” Portela said. “I didn’t get to show last year because I ride with Jimmy Torano, and he judged last year. After [the Pennsylvania National Horse Show] and [the Washington International Horse Show] this year I was pumped and ready and wanted to come and do well.” Portela had previously shown at the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden, so she had high expectations coming to the Alltech National Horse Show in its new home at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Lexington, KY – October 31, 2013 – Sometimes it is a rail, sometimes it is an inside turn and sometimes it is just one-tenth of a second separating the winner from the losers. That is exactly what happened during the Double H Farm $100,000 International Open Jumpers at the Alltech National Horse Show. Todd Minikus was aiming for his second win in a row with Quality Girl, completing a clear jump-off effort, when Belgium’s Francois Mathy was faultless during the 14-horse jump-off aboard Polinska Des Isles, crossing the finish line a fraction of a second faster to capture the winning honors.

On Sunday I trailered Tucker over to Alicia’s for a jumping lesson and he was such a good boy. I had a discussion with a friend recently about cross-training or doing different things with your horse, and we agreed that while you can’t have a top level show horse who also trail horse and also a dressage horse, you can do lots of different types of riding and activities and end up with an all-around awesome horse who is fun to ride no matter what you’re doing
